When this family purchased a new condo we all realized a considerable amount of furniture editing was going to be needed, even with the new apartment having 4 bedrooms. After careful consideration and a lot of trust in their designers, only the necessary pieces were moved into the new space. The brief was very specific, “we love colour, wallpaper and our existing wooden furniture” This paved the way to create an interesting yet comfortable home.

A plush custom-made fabric sofa and oversized ottoman in the living room was introduced along with cushions on the timber chairs and coordinating dining chair seats. However the starting point was the turquoise blue wallpaper, reminiscent of Indian holidays and the sea they look out to. The colours complement the warmth of the intricately carved sideboard and dining table. Chocolate coloured curtains with turquoise accents add to the opulence of the room, allowing a very intimate evening dining space.

The cocoa colours were repeated in the master bedroom where splashes of golds and hot pinks are seen in the roman blinds and curtains. Again the wallpaper adds to the character of the room with their timber framed king-size bed where a custom made quilt and cushions were added.

Another bedroom clearly shows the daughter’s vibrant personality, not to mention her love of pink and violet. Lime green is also seen in the trims on the bed throw and roman blinds along with the scatter cushions on the bed. This was added as a perfect complementary colour.

The light filled study facing the sea is the one true gentlemen’s quarter in the house. A custom sofa bed doubles as an easy place to sit when doing evening conference calls or for visiting guests. The colours for this room were chosen to coordinate with an existing floor rug of great sentimental value but also importantly to feel as part of the overall house décor.

The end result is an apartment with rich colours and furniture that perfectly suits this busy, modern family.
