This client came from Hong Kong not only with an astounding rug collection but beautiful accessories collected from their travels in the region. Fortunately they also had a fabulous new space in which to put them, but they desperately needed some big-ticket items for their living and dining areas.

The white sofas were purchased on sale and it was decided that even with 2 small children it was worth buying and then recovering in 12 months time, if necessary. Custom coffee and dining tables were made. Dining chairs were re-padded and upholstered and 2 easy chairs re-covered in a beautiful Asian inspired fabric with a pink accent picking up colours from artwork purchased in Vietnam.

Only neutral tones were added throughout as there were strong colours in a few of the existing pieces and the different rugs brought in quite a lot of colour.

Softer colours were paired in the upstairs in the master bedroom on the chaise, bench and upholstered bed head. The colours coordinated beautifully with the slightly stronger tones in the silk rug.

Additional outdoor furniture was added to the verandah with cushions with a hint of aqua blue added, giving the darker furniture a lift but also reflecting the colours of the pool. With this wonderful al fresco area, the entire house became a great entertainment place where neighbourhood families gathered with plenty of room for the kids in the pool and the parents sipping bubbles on the terrace.
